Wildfire-Resilient Roofing for Northern Nevada Homes

Northern Nevada homeowners face increasing wildfire risk as communities expand into the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) — the zone where homes meet open land, foothills, and wild vegetation.

At Precision Roofing & Rain Gutters, we believe the right roofing system plays a critical role in protecting homes. That’s why we take a fire-first approach to every roof we install.

Wildfire Risk in Northern Nevada

Northern Nevada is one of the fastest-growing WUI regions in the country. As development continues into foothills and open land around Reno, Sparks, Spanish Springs, Carson City, and nearby communities, wildfire exposure has increased dramatically.

Standard roofing systems are not designed for ember exposure

Traditional roofing systems were never designed for today’s wildfire behavior — even when the roof looks “new.”

Ignition beneath shingles when underlayment fails

Fire-Rated Underlayment Is Our Baseline

Fire-rated underlayment serves as a critical secondary barrier beneath your roofing material.

If embers breach the outer roof surface, this layer helps resist ignition and flame spread into the structure.

It is not an upgrade—it is our standard on every roofing project.

We only install fire-rated underlayment systems. This protective layer helps prevent ignition if embers breach the outer roofing material.

Ember-Resistant Vents Matter

Attic vents are one of the most common wildfire entry points. We install ember-resistant vents that block embers while maintaining proper airflow—critical for wildfire-prone regions like Northern Nevada.

Ember-Resistant Vents: A Critical Defense

Attic vents are one of the most common wildfire entry points.

Standard vents can allow embers to enter attic spaces, igniting insulation or framing and causing total structure loss from the inside out.

We install ember-resistant vents engineered to:

  • Block wind-driven embers

  • Maintain proper airflow and ventilation

  • Reduce ignition risk during wildfire events

Paired with fire-rated underlayment, these vents significantly improve roof system resilience.

Why We Don’t Offer “Standard” Roofing Systems

We don’t believe homeowners should need to ask the right questions to be protected.

If a roofing system:

  • Uses non-fire-rated underlayment

  • Includes standard open attic vents

  • Ignores wildfire exposure

…it’s not something we’re comfortable installing in Northern Nevada.

Fire safety is built into how we roof — not added later.
